Who hasn’t heard of stuffed roast pork from Ariccia? This age-old delicacy is thought to date back to the Latin people, so before the Roman conquest, and is the undisputed symbol of the capital’s street food. In 2011 ‘Porchetta di Ariccia’ was awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status but you have to try it to see really how good it is! It is the crispy crackling and the typical white-pinkish colour of the delicately spiced meat that make it so unique. The art of preparing this specialty is still handed down from generation to generation in families in Ariccia. One such family who jealously guards the secrets of ‘porchetta’ is the Mattù family, owners of Azienda delPonte. Pietro Mattù and his family chose Giorik quality to fit out the kitchen of their new food shop located in a fully renovated textile factory in Ariccia that had been abandoned. Today it is a haven for organic food and environmental sustainability, a place where you can shop and then take a break and try out some of the best local products.
